Remembering Loved Ones This Christmas Season

At Moore Funeral Home, we understand how difficult it can be to cope with the loss of your loved ones, especially during the holiday season. That’s why we have created a special, heartfelt Christmas display that features red cardinals, a symbol of hope, faith, and love to many.

Cardinals are beautiful birds that will stand out in any winter landscape, especially with their vibrant red feathers. They are also known to have spiritual significance in many cultures and religions. Red cardinals are certainly more than just beautiful birds. They are also a symbol of the connection between the living and the dead, the physical and the spiritual, the past and the present. Many people believe that seeing a red cardinal is a sign that a loved one who has passed away is watching over them, sending them a message of love and comfort, and bringing guidance to those who see them.

The color red is also significant in the symbolism of cardinals and loved ones. Red is a color of passion, courage, and energy. It represents the love that binds us to our family and friends, even after they are gone. It also symbolizes the strength and resilience that we need to overcome grief and sorrow. Red is a color of life, reminding us that death is not the end, but a transition to a new state of being.

Cardinals are known to be vocal, cheerful, and optimistic. They sing their songs even in the coldest and darkest days of winter. They bring joy and hope to those who hear them, inspiring us to look for the positive aspects of life. The next time you see a red cardinal, take a moment to appreciate its beauty and meaning. It could be a sign that your loved one is near you, sending you a message of love and comfort. It may also be a reminder that you are not alone, that you have a spiritual connection with your family and friends. And it may be an invitation to celebrate the joy and peace of the season, knowing that your loved one is happy in heaven.

Whatever your personal beliefs, we hope that our Christmas display inspires you to reflect on the memories of your family and friends, and to find the joy and peace of the holiday season. Our display includes a large snow-covered Christmas tree decorated with red berries and soothing white lights. Near the tree, we have placed a wooden sign that reads: “Cardinals appear when angels are near”. Arranged among the tree are several red cardinal figurines, some perched on branches, some flying in the air, and some resting on snow-covered ground. Each one symbolizes all those loved ones we have served this past year.

We welcome you to visit our display anytime during our business hours, from 9 AM to 4 PM (eastern time), Monday through Friday. We also welcome you to take a picture with our display and share it on social media. We would love to see your photos and hear your stories about how cardinals have touched your life and the lives of those passed away.

At Moore Funeral Home, we are more than just a funeral service provider. We are a family that cares about you and your family. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for choosing us in helping to remember your loved ones.

This morning, during my run before work, I started mentally listing the tasks ahead—vacuum the parlors, clean the bathrooms, print memorial folders, and more. But as I ran, my thoughts drifted beyond my daily checklist. I found myself reflecting on how much funeral services have evolved over the years. This year marks 80 years of Moore Funeral Home serving our community, and yesterday was a perfect example of how things have changed. In one service, the speaker—unable to travel from Texas—delivered his message via Zoom. At the same time, we conducted a large funeral at a church in Higdon which was live-streamed, allowing hundreds of people to participate from the comfort of their homes. I can’t help but wonder what my great-grandfather would think. When he founded Moore Funeral Home in 1945 , he likely never imagined technology playing such a role in how we honor and remember our loved ones. Yet, while funeral services continue to evolve, one thing has remained constant—our commitment to serving families with compassion, dignity, and respect. As we celebrate 80 years, I’m incredibly grateful for the past and excited for the future. Thank you for trusting us to walk alongside you during life’s most difficult moments. It is our honor to continue this tradition of care for generations to come.
