Mrs. Zelpha Faye Gossett
June 10, 1943 — December 11, 2022
Zelpha Faye Gossett, 79, of Chattanooga, TN., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 11, 2022.
Funeral services will be held at the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 11:30 AM with Brother Darrell Smith and Pastor Garrett Reagan officiating. She will be laid to rest at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and Friday from 10:00 AM to the hour of service.
She believed in love. She believed in hopefulness. She believed in kindness and understanding. And whether you encountered her at the daycare, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, as a Cub Scout den mother, or any other number of roles she assumed, she tried her best to always demonstrate and live them.
We are heartbroken in her absence, but are sustained with the enduring love she always gave us. Her positivity will continue on. Her faith will remain our example. Whether reassuring us that the Bible tells us to think about good things, not to think about bad things, or promising her grandchildren that God was going to put all his angels around them to keep them safe. No matter the darkness she endured, she always looked to the light and encouraged others to do so. And in that light she now eternally rejoices.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret McKaig Gray; siblings, Geraldine Stephens, Charlotte Gray, Novella Dotson, and Linda Eaker.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 56 years, Jack “Jackie” Allen Gossett; sons, Allen (Tracey) Gossett, Jr., Jason Robert (Sonja) Gossett; grandchildren Evan (Erika) Gossett, Holden Gossett, Alliana (Hunter) Martin, Liam Gossett; great-grandchild Jackson McCoy Gossett; sister, Betty Abbott; brother, John (Peggy) Gray, Jr.; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
