Wayne Henley

July 21, 1951 — March 23, 2025

Wayne Wright Henley, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and a prominent figure in the audio and technology industry, passed away peacefully at home in Eatonton, Georgia, surrounded by his loving family on March 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 21, 1951, and lived a life marked by deep commitment to both his family and his career.

Wayne embarked on his journey in audio and technology in 1972 after graduating from Walker Tech. His career began at Muzak, where he quickly established himself as a well-known name in the field. From 1981 to 1996, Wayne contributed significantly to the development of the Muzak market in Savannah, all while nurturing his growing family and forging many lasting friendships along the way. In 1996, he returned to the Chattanooga area, beginning the second phase of his career that ultimately led him to Atlanta in 2001. At Richardson Technology and later at SWC, Inc., he became a formidable presence in the School Safety and Communication field, leaving a lasting impact on his profession. Wayne's career was marked by numerous awards and record-breaking achievements.

Away from his professional life, Wayne always prioritized his family. He shared a joyful marriage of 53 years with his wife, Peggy Henley, who stood by him throughout their life's journey. The commitment and love they shared were evident to all who knew them. Wayne was a devoted father to his son, Chris (Sarah) Henley, and his daughter, Katrina (Lance) Jones, and took immense joy in his role as a grandfather to Madison Henley, Makayla (Michael) Henley-Ellison, Hayden, Lillian, and London.

Wayne’s sister, Pat Henley, also played a significant role in his life, as did numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was a family man through and through, happiest when surrounded by his loved ones. The Henley family created cherished memories together, particularly on their beloved Disney vacations and cruises, where Wayne enjoyed hosting gatherings filled with laughter and love, often centered around large meals shared among family.

Wayne is preceded in death by his father, John Henley; his beloved mother, Louise Henley-Settles, and stepfather, John Settles; his father and mother-in-law, Gene and Marie Harris; and his brother, John “Butch” Henley.

The celebration of Wayne's life will take place on March 28, 2025, at Moore Funeral Home in Trenton, Georgia. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony at 12:00 PM.

He will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but for the love he emanated as a devoted family member and friend.
