NEW SALEM GA: Wallace Glenn Gray, age 84 of New Salem Georgia died August 7, 2015 in Jacksonville, Florida.
He was raised on Lookout Mountain and attended Dade County High School in Trenton, GA. He followed in his older brothers footsteps and joined the U.S. Navy at age 17. There he spent nearly three decade serving in both the Korean and Vietnam wars and other assignments on Guam and Japan. He was stationed on numerous US Navy ships during his career including the aircraft USS Constellation where he was Chief Master at Arms. He retired from the Navy in 1975 as Master Chief Petty Officer. He enjoyed breakfast with his former Navy buddies, visiting friends and relatives and especially the annual Gray Family Reunion on Lookout Mountain.
He is survived by his wife, Immadean and his sons, Steven and wife Dorothy, Timothy and wife Joette and daughter Phyliis Ingram and her husband CJ. Also his grandsons, Tyler Gray and his wife Kelly, Ryan Gray and his wife Ana and Kyle and JT Ingram.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in the Chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Burial will be held in Hawkins Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday 4:00 PM ~ 8:00 PM
Tuesday 10:00 AM ~ 1:00 PM
