Mrs. Thelma Jean Avans

Thelma Jean Avans passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at the age of 82, at her home in
Higdon, AL. Thelma was born to the late Will and Anna West on April 8, 1939.

In addition to her parents, Thelma was predeceased by husbands, Gene Bynum and Sherman
Avans; and siblings, Johnny West, Elmo West, Leona Wood, Denzil West, Wilburn West,
O’Dell West, Viola West and Virginia Gilman.

She is survived by her daughter, Sabra (Darren Gentle) Long; sons, Chris (Lisa) Bynum and
Steve (Rodenna) Avans; grandchildren, Dusty Winters, Celeste Winters, Donte’ (Chrissy)
Winters, Noah Bynum, and Stephanie (Curtis) Wright; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Moore Funeral Home in Trenton, GA on Tuesday, March 22,
2022 at 3:00 PM ET. She will be laid to rest at Brown Gap Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM ET and Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the service hour.
