Susie Mae Gilbert

Susie Mae Gilbert, age 88, passed away December 10, 2018. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and the Ruritan Club.  Susie and her late husband Leonard founded the Higdon Rescue Squad and helped establish North Sand Mountain High School.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Gilbert; daughter Barbara Gilbert Guffey; parents Julius and Vinnie Cagle; four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her daughters Bernice Gilbert East (Jim); Theresa Jackson (Brian Scott); Chasity McGee (Troy); sons Burnell H. Gilbert (Linda); Davy Gilbert; nine grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; twelve great-greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM EST Friday, December 14, 2018 in the Bryant Chapel with Brother Steve Camp officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday 5:00~8:00 PM; Friday 2:00~4:00 PM EST
