Shirley West

Shirley Mae West, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at her home in Bryant, AL.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Shirley will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM ET at the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Brad Bridges and Brother Steve Townson officiating. Following the service, Shirley will be laid to rest at Poplar Springs Cemetery.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until the service hour.

Shirley dedicated many years to her profession as a hairdresser before retiring from JC Penney. Her wonderful humor and love for life brought joy to everyone who knew her. She cherished the time spent with her family and enjoyed caring for her yard and garden. She was also a member of the Mountain View Church of God.

Shirley is survived by her son, Joseph Duane (Angela) West, and her beloved granddaughters, Alyssa and Alyson West. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hayward West; her parents, Leon and Thena Overby; and her brothers, Ray and Doug Overby.

Her spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
