Shirley Lee Bennett, 85, of Bryant, Alabama passed away August 20, 2022. She was born April 22, 1937 to the late Earl and Bonnie Robinson. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved to garden, read, and travel. She was a member of St. Lukes Catholic Church in Dahlonega, GA and Ebenezer Baptist Church in Drakesboro, KY.
Shirley earned her Masters Degree in teaching and was Teacher of the Year in Lumpkin County, Dahlonega, GA. She was a member of the NEA and could be found volunteering at Central City, KY Food Pantry.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Max Bennett; sisters, Alma, Patsey, Anna, Mickey; brothers, Earl C., Hub, Cecil, Dewey, and Clyde.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lori Costley and Lisa Garner; grandchildren, Jamie Brown, Veronica Mahathey and Mallory Costley; step-granddaughter Christina Garner; great-grandchildren, Raegan Harper Brown and Declan Roger Brown; sisters, Doris Shoemake, Ruthie Dobbs, Norma Christmas, Freda Watkins, Geneva Rowe, June, Karner, Louise Ahlert; brothers, Clarence Robinson and William Robinson; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM ET Sunday, August 28, 2022 at the Bryant Chapel with Pastor Joel Shiftlett and Brother Jimmy Ferguson officiating. She will be laid to rest at Oak Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 4:00 PM ~ 7:00 PM ET; Sunday 11:00 AM till the funeral hour.
