ORBAN ATCHLEY
Bryant, AL: Orban Edward Atchley, 82, passed away February 27, 2013. He was a long time resident of Bryant, AL and attended Bryant Holiness Church. Orban (Slim) retired from Combustion Engineering after 30 years as a Boilermaker. After his retirement, he remained active farming, gardening, fishing, and deer hunting with his son & family for many years. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Orban was also a successful contractor overseeing the construction of numerous new homes and remodeling projects.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Fannie Pennington Atchley; father, Ruford Atchley; son, Jimmy Neal Atchley,; granddaughter, Connie Atchley; brothers Hershell, Gene, Ray, and Billy Atchley; sister, Margie Baker.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Louise Hutcheson Atchley; daughter Shelia (Dale) Shoemake; grandsons Orban Edward Atchley II, Christopher Dale (Carrie) Shoemake; granddaughter Joy (Micheal) Bridger; great-grandchildren Lexie Gass, Tatum Gass, Bransyn Bridger, and Logan Shoemake; brothers Roy Atchley, Donald (Deana) Atchley, Harold (Sue) Atchley; sisters Erma Venable, Verna (Johnny) Waters, Earline (Roy) Lea, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 1 at 12:00 EST in the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Bro. David Higdon and Bro. Edwin Spurgeon officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Park.
