Michael David Steele

Michael David Steele, affectionately known as Mike, passed away peacefully at his home in Hixson, Tennessee on January 7, 2025, at the age of 69. 

Mike was born on December 27, 1955, in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, to the late Ronald "Cubie" Carpenter Steele and Shirley Durham. He was a 1974 Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School graduate, where he excelled in athletics. His personality was a blend of quiet strength and an outgoing spirit, endearing him to many who had the pleasure of knowing him. After high school, Mike served his country with honor in the United States Navy and later built a fulfilling career in maintenance and groundskeeping.

Mike is survived by his brothers, Ron (Paulette) and Tony (Carol) Steele; his step-mother, Barbara Steele; his step-sister, Jessica (Clayton) Coots; along with several cousins and extended family members who will carry his memory forward.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Jerome Steele; and his grandparents, Carl and Dalpha Steele, Gordon and Carzell Durham. 

Mike's kindness and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
