MELBA COOKSTON

Melba Cookston, 79, of Bryant, AL. passed away June 7, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Melba was of the Baptist faith.

Melba loved working in her beautiful garden of flowers and her lily garden displays rays of colors and sunshine. She also loved going to yard sales, sewing, and quilting.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Bobby Cookston; parents Andy and Ellamae Hicks; sister Velma, brother Glenn.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of fifty-nine years, Robert Cookston; daughter and son-in-law Tina (Kevin) Johnson; wonderful granddaughters Lorna McKaig and Krista McKaig; great-granddaughter Lilly; sisters Ruth, Joyce, and Hazel; brothers David and Ricky.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 EDT Thursday, June 10, 2021 in the Bryant Chapel with Brother Wayne Winters officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held Wednesday 4:00 PM ~ 8:00 PM; Thursday 12:00 PM ~ 1:00 PM EDT.

The family would like to thank Encompass Health Hospice, nurse Savanah Crompton, and caregiver Stacey Havron for their loving care during this difficult time.
