MAMIE CLARK   NEW SALEM, GA: Mamie Lee Abbott Clark, 95 of the New Salem Community who resided in Villanow, Georgia passed away peacefully at her home on September 4, 2018. You didn’t need to be family because she never knew a stranger. All you needed was a love of home cooked pinto beans and cornbread to always have a welcomed seat at Sunday dinner. The harder the work, it seemed like the better she liked it. Busting wood, dragging logs, pickin cotton, gardening, cooking or tending babies…she enjoyed it all. Water you carried a mile uphill and boiled over a fire or hot water from the faucet, she didn’t mind either way. You know those rare gems that never complain, no matter how impossible the task, how much the burden, how great the pain or how heartbreaking the loss? She was that gem. That very rare find that loved without expectation, gave without thought and believed without question. That strong silent rock always present, rarely praised and never shaken. The woman who loved a man with her whole heart for her whole life through the best and the worst without wavering. The mother who split her heart into four and gave with all her might every single day to her kids. She would gladly do without so that those she loved were plentiful. Could be the only thing sweeter than being her baby was to be her grand baby, and of those she had many. She filled each one with love, light, grit, strength, The Good Lord and plenty of food. As a grandmother, her arms were the only place in this world that ever truly felt like home. For life she found joy and fulfillment because she loved. She loved with all her might until her last breath. She left this world for one she always longed to see. That man…the one she loved with a passion most of us will never begin to understand, she’s with him now. She’s among the greatest, the Angels. She’s home. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Rice Clark; sons, Billy and Jerry Clark ; parents, Jim and Avie Abbot; four brothers one sister; two grandsons and two great grandsons. Mamie is survived and will be greatly missed by Dee Clark (Genelle), Lafayette, Georgia and Essie Clark, Villanow, Georgia; ten grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; sister Lois Cross; brothers Larry Abbott and Elmer Abbott; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Friday, September 7, 2018 in the Chapel of Moore Funeral Home.  Burial will be held in Hawkins Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday 4:00 PM ~ 8:00 PM Friday 10:00 AM ~ 12:00 PM Arrangements by Moore Funeral Home, Trenton, Georgia
