Mabel Thompson

Mabel Davis Thompson, 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.

A Graveside Service to honor Mabel’s life will be Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 1:00 PM ET at Lake Hills Memorial Gardens with Brother Jim Lillie officiating.

Mabel was a lifelong resident of Trenton, Georgia until the last 15 years. She was born on June 1, 1933 in Trenton, GA to the late Frank Doc Davis and Sadie Colston Davis. On October 26, 1950, she married Reverend Ed Thompson. She was always by Ed’s side throughout his pastoral ministry at several churches. Together, they were always ready to visit and minister to anyone in need. After many years, Mabel and Ed both retired from Trenton Spinning Mills. Mabel and Ed had been married for 59 years when he passed away on June 4, 2009; she moved to Soddy Daisy, TN soon afterward. Mabel’s greatest treasure was being Memaw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mabel was preceded in death by her two sisters, Gladys Middleton and Loretta Castleberry. Mabel is survived by her two sons, John (Linda) Thompson of Soddy Daisy, TN and Frank (Roxie) Thompson of Trenton, GA; her brother, Jim (Sharon) Davis of Pelham, AL; her sister, Velma Allen of Texas; her grandchildren, Kenny Thompson, Kelli and Chris Bell, and Tyler and Allison Thompson; and her great-grandchildren, Gage and Gavin Bell, Ruby Jane, Tessa, and John Tyler Thompson.

The family would like to thank Soddy Daisy Healthcare for the love and care they have shown Mabel the last 7 years and Jenni and Danille of Hearth Hospice.
