Lewis Price, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on October 1, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on August 8, 1933, in LaGrange, Georgia, Lewis lived a life dedicated to family, career and faith.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Brian Salter, Reece Fauscett and James Helton officiating. Following the service, the family cordially invites you attend a memorial gathering beginning at 12:00 PM. at the Jane Harris Youth Building of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church (301 N. Watauga Lane, Lookout Mountain, TN 37350) 

A graduate of LaGrange High School, Lewis continued his studies at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Textile Engineering, He furthered his education with a Master's Degree in Executive Management from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. His professional life was marked by significant accomplishments, holding the position of plant manager at Callaway Textile Company in LaGrange, executive roles with J.P. Stevens in Greenville, SC, Regal Textile in Atlanta and with Dan River Textile in Danville, Virginia. His expertise also led him to an executive role at Kavari Carpets in Kowary, Poland. Notably, on October 30, 1998, Lewis was recognized and inducted as a Distinguished Alumnus in the Georgia Tech's College of Engineering, a testament to his impactful career in the industry.

In addition to his professional accolades, Lewis proudly served his country, being commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, and dedicated eight years to the Army Reserve at Fort Benning, Georgia. Lewis was a man of deep faith and community involvement. He was actively engaged with the First Baptist Church of LaGrange, where he served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School to students from LaGrange College. His commitment to service extended to his local Rotary Club, where he held a position as an officer. Later in life, he and his beloved wife, Joy Dee, were active members of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church and New Salem Methodist Church, where they forged cherished connections within their community. 

Family was at the heart of Lewis's life. He was married to Joy Dee Hatchett Price for 67 wonderful years and took great pride in his children: daughters Joy Price Kramer and Jerri Price, and son Lewis Price, III. He leaves behind a legacy as a devoted grandfather to his grandsons, Nicklis and Jacob Kramer, both residents of Florida. He is also survived by his brother, Roy Lane Price of Gadsden, Alabama, and his sister, Dr. Gail Price Fine of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Additionally, Lewis is survived by his sister-in-law, Dr. Christiana Bosse Price of LaGrange, Georgia, along with two brothers-in-law, Jerry Hatchett and Joele Hatchett of Santa Barbara, California; sisters-in-law Cynthia Hatchett, Susan Burns Hatchett and Shan Hatchett Goldman; and a loving collection of nieces and nephews, including: Joshua, Shane, Cody, Cheyanne, Ashley and Ryan Hatchett, all from Santa Barbara, California, as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Price, Sr. and Pearl Margaret Grigsby Price, and his two brothers, Dr. William W. Price and Paul Thomas Price.

Lewis will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. His legacy of service, faith, and family will endure in the hearts of those who loved him.
