Larry David Murphy Jr., 52, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at his home in Flat Rock, Alabama.
Larry had a remarkable sense of humor and love for God that brightened the lives of those around him. He found happiness in various pursuits, including sports, singing, antiquing, collecting silver, and watching YouTube videos. Beyond his personal pursuits, Larry was deeply patriotic and had a strong commitment to history, always striving to uncover and share truths from the past and present. His warm and loving nature served as a strong foundation for his family and wide range of friends.
Larry’s memory lives on through his children, Cortney Murphy and Tiffany Murphy; life partner, April Smith; siblings, Shaun Kesler and Nikki Murphy-Bodenbender; grandchildren, Bentley, Braxton, Easton, Trea, and Journey; aunt, Linda Finney; several extended family members and a host of friends in various states.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry Murphy Sr and Brenda “Sue” West Kesler; daughter, Chelsie Murphy-Moore; granddaughter Kinzlee Rader; stepfather, Tommy Kesler; grandparents, Glen and Ruby Doss; and uncle, Richard Finney.
A celebration of Larry’s life will take place later to honor the legacy he leaves behind. Though Larry has passed on from this world, he will live on through his knowledge, human kindness, and his grandchildren.
