JOHN SHARPTON
HIGDON, AL: John D. Sharpton, age 93, passed away September 14, 2015. He was a self taught musician and could play all string instruments. He attended many singing schools held in the area. John used his singing and musical abilities in service to the Lord at Shiloh Nazarene Church where he was a member for 73 years. He was faithful and served in all positions in the Church. His most loved was song director where he served for 65 years. His caring and loving handshake will be missed by all.
John was a machinist by trade and retired in 1985. His joys of life were his children and grandchildren, fishing and gardening, but most of all making music and singing with his wife of 75 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Cora Sharpton, sister Emmalene Johnson, brothers J.P., Herbert, Marsell and Bill Sharpton, granddaughter Cynthia Hunter, and son-in-law Dee Cloud.
He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Dorothy Sharpton, two daughters Barbara Cloud and Shirley West; two sons Jimmy (Barbara) Sharpton, Wayne (Greta) Sharpton; brother Rev. Wendell (Carol) Sharpton; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and a host of friends, nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM EDT Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Reverend Wayland Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Payne’s Gap Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM EDT ~ 8:00 PM EDT Wednesday, September 16; Thursday 12:00 ~ 2:00 PM at the Trenton Chapel.
