TRENTON GA: John Franklin “Bill” Avans, age 72 passed away, Friday July 18, 2014. He worked 28 years at Wheland Foundry, Chattanooga, TN and 8 years at KENCO. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Bill was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran and member of American Legion Post # 106. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and flea markets.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John “Cad” and Erma Avans and sister, Aline Hall.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Alpha Avans; daughter, Tracey Avans; grandchildren, Jarrod Brown, Joshua Brown and Shane Osburn; two special friends, Morgan and Jax; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Tuesday, July 22, 2014 in the Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Billy Wallace officiating. Interment will be held 1:30 PM Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday 11:00 AM ~ 8:00 PM
Monday 11:00 AM ~ 8:00 PM Tuesday 10:00 AM ~ 12:00 PM
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund
