JOE TATUM, JR.
Wildwood, GA : Joe Lee Tatum, Jr., age 70, of Wildwood, Ga., went to sleep Monday, January 28, 2013 and is now resting until the soon return of Jesus. He served in the Marine Corps. He enjoyed reading and studying his Bible and over the years he taught a Sabbath School class, was Sabbath School Superintendent, assisted with Vacation Bible School, health fairs, and sermons Music was an important part of his life and he and his wife sang at various nursing homes and churches for many, many years.
He was multitalented and worked as a molder in a foundry, water and wastewater treatment plant operator, maintenance, materials management, purchasing agent, painter, and cook.
Model trains and airplanes, collecting vintage western videos, shortwave radio, exercise and rescuing cats and dogs were his hobbies. He especially liked running and jogging. He was kind and compassionate throughout his seventeen year struggle with Parkinson’s disease that was complicated by dementia for the last couple of years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Stella Tatum, sister Barbara Tatum, grandparents Henry and Melissa Dunlap, and Tom and Ruth Tatum.
Survivors include his wife of forty-eight years, Linda Cole Tatum, and mother-in-law Evelyn Cole.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 30 at 3:00 PM EST in Moore Funeral Home Chapel
Visitation will be held Tuesday 5:00 PM ~ 9:00 PM; Wednesday 2:00 PM ~ 3:00 PM
