BRYANT, AL: Jimmie Rafford Townson took his last earthly breath at his home in Bryant, AL on Monday, August 31, 2020 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Jimmie passed only a month before his eighty-third birthday on October 2. He was surrounded by family, friends and loved ones. Jimmie was saved, baptized, and became a member of Straightway Baptist Church in July, 2011.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Virgie Townson; three brothers, Kenneth (Martila), Freeman (Betty) and Royce Ray (Ruth, living) Townson; three sisters, Reba (Lee) Manson, Lottie (Charles) Douglas, and Judy (Tim, living) Knight.
Survivors include sisters, Elva Townson, Mavis (Wes, deceased) Kennemore, Betty (Royce, deceased) Cloud and a brother Jerry (Vicky) Townson; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and also great-great nieces and nephews along with a host of friends and other family members.
A special thank you goes out to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Encompass Health for their care and dedication during his last days.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 4:00 PM EDT in the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Gary Bone officiating. Pall bearers will be Ed McCloud, Chris Floyd, Justin Lloyd, Malcom Kennemore, Germi Cloud, and Tim Knight. Interment will be held in Oak Lawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held Wednesday 2:00 PM ~ 8:00 PM EDT; Thursday 2:00 PM ~ 4:00 PM EDT.
All CDC guidelines will be observed during visitation and service.
