Jasper Worth Lillard, age 86, of Bryant, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Decatur United Methodist Church with Pastor Joey Mathis officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 AM until the service hour. Mr. Lillard will be laid to rest at Decatur Cemetery with military honors.
Worth, as he was known by his family and friends, was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on July 8, 1938 to the late R.S. Lillard and Paulie Shefford Lillard. Before moving to the Bryant community, he had previously resided in Ooltewah, Tennessee. Worth was employed for 37 years with the Hamilton County Government as Director of Maintenance. During his time with Hamilton County, Worth participated in the design and construction of the Fire & EMS stations within the county. On several occasions, Worth overseen repairs made to the Hamilton County Courthouse which improved and preserved its long history. Additionally, Worth managed Simco Leather Company in Chattanooga. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and an avid Tennessee Vols fan. Worth was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed boating, mowing his yard, listening to music, farming and his dogs. He will forever be remembered as an affectionate, kind, generous, patient and outgoing person and will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his infant sister, Gertrude Lillard.
Worth is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Brenda Lillard; son, David Worth (Catharine) Lillard; brother, Stewart Lillard, Jr.; grandchildren, Jackson Worth Lillard and Mason Parks Lillard; nieces and nephews, Karen Lillard, Michael Lillard and Kolbie Bobo; brother & sister-in-law, Chris (Paula) Bobo; mother-in-law, Bertha Bobo and special friends, Andrea & Jeff Wright.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of Hospice of Alabama for their compassionate care during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to Hospice of Alabama or to Decatur United Methodist Church, 145 Vernon Street, Decatur, TN 37322.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Moore Funeral Home of Trenton, Georgia.
