James Hoyt Stevison, age 85, of Bryant, AL passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 27, 2023. Born in Harrison, TN on June 12, 1938, Hoyt was the child of the late James Porter and Stella Mae Whitaker Stevison. He was a devoted member of Mountain View Church of God.
Hoyt proudly served his country in the United States Army and his dedication and service to the nation will always be cherished. He found joy in raccoon hunting, gardening, cheering for Alabama football, and captivating others with his stories. Additionally, he had a deep love for animals.
Hoyt leaves behind his wife, Linda McBryar; sisters, Lois Pope, Shirley Banther, and Doris Rheay; 3 step-sons; 6 step-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jewel Stevison; sister, Patsy Sims; step-grandson, Zach Talley; half-siblings, Hiwatha Sherman, Augusta Goins, Fred Stevison, and Melvin Stevison.
Funeral services to honor Hoyt's life will be held at the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at 3:00 PM ET. The service will be officiated by Brother Brad Bridges. After the ceremony, he will rest at Mountain View Cemetery in Bryant, AL.
A visitation will be held at the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 PM ET and on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the service hour.
