Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM at the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home.

A son of the Valley, a Wauhatchie Warrior, a Purple Pounder, a Volunteer, a Sixth Fleet Sailor, a United Steelworker and to the children at the Nazarene Day Care, simply, Mr. Jackie. But most importantly a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, a humble servant of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

If you knew him, then you knew the real him. He was the genuine article. A man so significant, the lessons he taught and the example he set will endure in our family for generations to come.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy who served aboard his beloved ‘Rosie’, the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. A dedicated employee of Mueller Company of Chattanooga for 43 years, with every one of those years spent down on the production floor, where molten steel poured and grinder shaped iron.

His long ten year battle with cancer has ended. And though it took his earthly body, the eternal victory is his. We shall miss him dearly, mourn his departing and love him eternally. But now he’s with his ‘girl’ and beloved wife, Zelpha again. He’s home.

He is survived by his sons, Allen (Tracey) Gossett Jr. and Jason Robert (Sonja) Gossett; grandchildren, Evan (Erika) Gossett, Holden Gossett, Alliana (Hunter) Martin, and Liam Gossett; great-grandsons, Jackson McCoy and Grayson Lane Gossett; as well as several extended family members and a host of friends.

Jackie is now reunited with his beloved wife, Zelpha Gray Gossett, along with his siblings Wilburn Gossett, Peggy Nicholson, and Charles Gossett.
