BRYCE SLATER
HIGDON, AL: Hughie Bryce Slater, age 79, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013. He graduated JSU with a BS degree and MTSU with a masters degree. He was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying especially hunting, fishing, and golf. He was the proud owner and designer of Dogwood Hills Golf Course, a Four Star Golf Course.
He was a loyal fan and supporter of NSM basketball, served as guidance counselor at Pisgah and Plainview, and was guidance coordinator at Bartow County, GA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh E. slater, mother, Lavina B. Slater, brother William Perry Slater.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-four years, Doris C. Slater; sisters Betty Hill, Hixson, TN., Dora Atkins, Ft. Payne, AL., Clara Schofield, Flat Rock, AL.; brothers Fred Slater, Ringgold, GA., Dan Slater, Flat Rock, AL., Bruce Slater, Springfield, IL., Douglas Slater, Manchester, TN.; nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 3:00 PM EDT at the Bryant Chapel with Dr. Ted Traylor and Minister Stephen Schofield officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Garden.
Visitation Friday 4:00 ~ 9:00 PM EDT; Saturday 1:00 PM ~ 3:00 PM EDT
