Herbert Joseph Jeansonne, 78, passed away peacefully at his home in the early morning hours of July 17, 2021 from complications of heart failure.
He was a 1961 graduate of Bunkie High School in Bunkie, Louisiana. He went on to obtain his Bachelor of Education in 1965 from McNeese State University. He moved to Trenton, Georgia in 1966 where he began his teaching career as a history professor and football coach at Davis High School. He later pursued his Masters Degree in Administration at Alabama A&M in Huntsville. He first served as head administrator for Lookout Mountain Elementary from 1974-77. In the fall of 1977, he became the head administrator for Davis Elementary/Middle School where he served until 1994. He finished his educational career as an assistant administrator at Dade County High School from 1994-2000.
Anyone that ever met him knew that he was a huge Alabama Crimson Tide football fan. He spent the last 21 years in retirement doing what he loved the most-spending time with family and following Alabama football. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alice & Cilton Jeansonne and his sister, Grace Stott.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years (Wanda Jeansonne), his two daughters, Cindy Jeansonne, and Wendy (Derek) Wilburn of Trenton, Ga, his 2 grandsons, Carson and Connor Wilburn, and his brother, Glynn Jeansonne.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM July 21, 2021 at Oak Lawn Memorial Park, Bryant, AL.
