HELEN McKAIG
NEW SALEM, GA: Helen Joyce McKaig, age 87, passed away July 8, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was an active member of New Salem Baptist Church where, in years passed, she taught Sunday School and served as treasurer and clerk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard McKaig; parents William H. and Laura Lorene Sanders; brother Waymon Sanders; sisters Lois Sanders and Jean Gipson, and step-son Lester McKaig.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra McKaig, Rising Fawn; sons Tim (Lynn) McKaig, Mississippi; Jerry McKaig, Rising Fawn; Joseph Lynn (Debbie) McKaig, Cartersville, GA; step-daughters Marcella McKaig and Judy (Dennis) Allen of Frankfort, KY; step-son John (Robyn) McKaig, Frankfort, KY; sisters Pat (Glover) Wingo, Chattanooga, TN; Edna Nunley, Tracy City, TN; brother Alvin (Bonnie) Sanders, New Castle, IN.; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM EDT Saturday, July 11, 2015, at the New Salem Baptist Church with Brother Jim Hixon and Brother Joseph Lynn McKaig officiating. Burial will follow in Hawkins Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday 4:00 ~ 8:00 PM; Saturday 10:00 AM ~ 11:00 AM at the New Salem Baptist Church, 541 Scenic Highway, Rising Fawn, GA.
The family wishes to thank Angel Forester, Wendy Sewell, Helen Williams, and Brandy Hicks for the loving care they gave to their mother.
