Hazel Gooch

Hazel Irene Gooch, age 86, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at her home in Trenton, Georgia.

A private graveside service will be conducted at Cheltenham Veteran Cemetery in Cheltenham, Maryland, where she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Preston "Buster" Oliver Gooch Sr.

Born on August 29, 1938, in Manassas, Virginia, Hazel was the daughter of the late Thomas and Irene Ennis. She spent a significant portion of her adult life in Bladensburg, Maryland, before moving to Trenton, Georgia, 24 years ago. Hazel dedicated many years to her career as the Food Service Manager for the Prince George County School System. She attended Woodlawn Baptist Church in Maryland and cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Hazel is survived by her children, Diane (Bruce) Tomlinson and Cathy (Peter) Basso; her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Karen, Theresa, Michelle, and Bruce Jr.; and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Hazel was preceded in death by her children, Wanda Gillis and Preston Oliver Gooch Jr.

Her legacy of love and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
