Harold Dewitt Gray

Harold Dewitt Gray, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on August 23, 2023, at his home in Higdon, Alabama.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Matthew Logan officiating. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on the day of the service.

Born on February 15, 1939, in New Salem, GA to Scott and Esther Fulghum Gray, Dewitt leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished. He was well-known as a skilled mechanic and was the proud owner of H.D. Gray's Farm Tractor Repair. His expertise in his trade brought him respect and admiration from the community.

Dewitt is survived by his devoted wife, Nelda Gray; sons, Harold “Hal” D. Gray Jr. and Roger (Joy) Cagle; his brother, Donald D. (Judy) Gray; and sister, Elaine (Jimmy) Webb. His presence will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Amanda (Casey) Dobbins, Allison “Nikki” (Chris) Casperson, Blakely Campbell (Vic) Burgess, Zachary (Allison) Turner, Hali Gray, and Terry (Hannah) Waldron. Dewitt also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, extended family members and a vast circle of friends who cherish the memories they shared with him.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his daughters, Drenda Lynn Turner and Debbie Campbell; son, Rodney Cagle; grandson, Jason Cagle; and sisters, Hersheline Kenemore, Vonnie Forrester, Clara Jo Ryan, and Legatha Walston.

In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a gift in his memory to Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Higdon, AL or New Salem United Methodist Church.
