Gene Harris

HEAD RIVER, GA: Gene Harris, age 77, a retired Army Veteran, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 12, 2014. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Gene was born in Chattanooga, TN. To the late Fannie Louise Harris Lane, and Jess Harris who both preceded him along with 2 sisters Sheila Croft and Mary Jane Harcrow, also his dog that was always by his side, Pee Brain.
Gene never met a stranger and he will be remembered for his story telling and his love of antiquies. He and Dee loved the flea markets and doing his crossword puzzles.
He is survived by and extremely missed by his loving wife of 60 years Dee Harris and his children Rickey (Diane) Harris, Betty (Mike) Forester, Ronnie (Tee) Harris, Beverly (Greg) Daniels; his brother Ronnie (Revonda) Harris; sisters Betty Joe Wooten, Trisha (Jim) Kelly; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny Powell officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in the adjoining cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday 5PM ~ 9PM at the funeral home, Tuesday 11AM ~ 1PM at the church.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Harris, Ron Harris, Ricky Harris, Jeff Forester, Mike Forester, Dale Daniels, Heath Daniels, and Greg Daniels.
