Ethel Irene Cody, age 96, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, at the Life Care Center of Collegedale. She was a remarkable lady who exemplified strength and dedication throughout her life. Ethel was known for her entrepreneurial spirit, having successfully operated a Marine Business and Cypress Shop in Florida before her retirement.
Her life was filled with passion and purpose, evident in her career and diverse hobbies. Ethel found great joy in spending time at the Trenton Senior Center and was a proud member of the Audubon Society, where she actively contributed to the preservation of the beautiful parks in Dade County alongside her friend, Eloise Gass.
Ethel is survived by her children, Peggy Brannen, Sandra (Tony) Edwards, John (Lynda) Forrester, and Eddie (Susan) Stevens. She leaves behind six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Ethel shared a special bond with her sisters, Judy (Sammy) Jones and Sue Bolton, and her brothers, James (Verda) Bolton and Reece Bolton. The family would like to extend a special thanks to her friends, Glennis Lawson, Annette Cash, and Nancy Belk for their faithful support.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Jimmie Bolton; husbands, Laudrey Cody and Verlan Brown; her beloved daughter, June Tipton; her grandson, Kyle Stevens; and her siblings, Mary McNabb, Bonnie McNabb, Duvol Bolton, Paul Bolton, William Bolton, and John Bolton.
A funeral service to honor Ethel's life will be held on Wednesday, December 18th at 1:00 PM in the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Hagler officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Lakewood Memorial Gardens West. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the service hour.
Ethel's legacy will undoubtedly live on through the lives she touched and the cherished memories she created with family and friends. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.
