TRENTON, GA: Douglas “Doug” Anderton, age 71, passed away December 28, 2020.
Doug was a genuine and faithful Christian man who relished the time spent with his church family. He was a committed member of New Home Baptist Church for more than 45 years where his encouraging smile and friendly demeanor will be dearly missed.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, dear brother, and a kind and considerate friend to all who had the honor of knowing him. The simple honesty and integrity that marked his professional career was shown in his private life as well
He was a long-time public servant who served Dade County through the Dade Water and Sewer Authority for forty-eight years until his retirement last year. Doug currently served as President of Georgia Rural Water Association, Director of Joint Development Association, Director and one of the founders of Citizens Bank in Trenton, GA. He was former Director and Past President of National Rural Water Association, Director of Experience Works in Washington, D.C., Director of Dade County Economic Development Authority and former board member of Hutcheson Hospital.
As accomplished as Doug's professional life was, it was his personal qualities that defined his life. He was a man of deep faith and humility; he was much more interested in hearing someone else's story than in telling his own. He had a unique gift for putting others at ease and made fast friends everywhere he went.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Bettie Anderton; brother Eddie Anderton; brother-in-law David Ray; grandparents John and Nannie Bea Anderton, Claude and Lily Louese Cloud.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of forty-nine years, Janeice Anderton; daughter Kristy (Todd) Jackson; grandchildren Christian, Cameron, and Kaitlyn Jackson; sisters Linda Ray, Robin (Terry) Spears, Tammy (Jimmy) Doss; brother Roger (Amy) Anderton; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
