Dorothy Lawson Higdon, of Higdon, AL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the age of 81.
Dorothy was an avid reader and flower gardener. Her yard was a beautiful testament to her green thumb, blooming with vibrant flowers that reflected her nurturing spirit. As a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she cherished her family deeply, sharing an especially close bond with her great-grandchildren. She was a member of Magby Gap Church of Christ.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Dena (Johnny Whiddon) Pierce and Wendy (Amaury Lopez) Parrott; her granddaughter, Schaleigh (Logan) Holt; and her great-grandchildren, Weston Pierce, Coralie Holt, and Orianna Holt. She also leaves behind her brother, Clifford Lawson. Dorothy’s legacy is reflected in the lives she nurtured and the love she shared with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy R. Higdon, her parents, George and Mary Belle Fisher Lawson, along with her siblings: George Lawson Jr., Ernest Lawson, Amos Lawson, David Lawson, Leonard Lawson, Hattie Winn, Mary Hodge, Leona Higdon, and Orianna Bible.
A graveside service to honor Dorothy’s life will be held at Higdon Cemetery on Saturday, November 2nd at 12:00 PM ET with Brother Eddie Page officiating.
Dorothy will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by those fortunate enough to know her.
