Davis Talmadge Bethune, aged 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Bryant, AL on October 10, 2024.

A Graveside Service to honor the life and legacy of Davis will be held at 3:00 PM ET on Monday, October 14th, 2024 at Floral Crest Cemetery in Bryant, AL. Pastor Jerry Arnold will officiate the service. In keeping with his personal wishes, there will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Born on January 15, 1939, to the late Orbie and Ruby Adkins Bethune, Davis was raised with a deep commitment to family and a strong desire to serve others. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him in all he did as a devoted member of the Floral Crest Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Davis had a true passion for gardening, and for many years, he shared his wisdom and enthusiasm with the community at the Bethune Garden Center on Sand Mountain. His love for restoring classic trucks, especially his beloved '36 Chevy, was evident to all who knew him. Long sleepless nights were often spent listening to the inspiring sermons of Pastor Jerry Arnold, reflecting his deep appreciation for both spirituality and the simple pleasures of life.

Above all, Davis cherished his family, finding joy in every moment spent with them. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Pauline Bernice Gass Bethune; his sons, Timothy (Angela) and Jeff (Carla) Bethune; his four grandchildren, Heather Stevenson, Kyla Godsey, Haley Bonner, and Zane Bethune; his sisters, Renee Richard and Onvil Robinson; along with five great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends who have been enriched by his life and presence.

Davis was preceded in death by his parents; son, Franky Bethune; and siblings, Mary R. Weldon, Ollie M. Gass, Sylvia Bethune, James G. Bethune, Verlin Bethune, Osbie Bethune, and Benuard Bethune.

His kindness, unwavering love, and the treasured memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of those close to him. As we gather to celebrate his life, we remember the warmth he shared and the legacy of love that he leaves behind.

The Bethune family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Floral Crest School or to trainhislambs.org.
