Carolyn "Cricket" Hill

Carolyn Lavern Hill, affectionately known as Cricket, age 80 of Bryant, AL, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends in the comfort of her home.

Born on January 26, 1943, Cricket was the daughter of the late Joseph Lewis and Mary Elizabeth Walker Knight. Though Cricket's formal education was limited, she firmly believed that experience was the greatest teacher of all. Cricket was a devoted member of Bryant Holiness Church.

At the young age of fourteen, Cricket married her true love, Monroe Hill. Together they worked side by side in the fields and on the farm. She stood by her husband and family in all they did and even helped build houses. Her exceptional cooking skills ensured that her table was always filled with food, and everyone around had plenty to eat. However, above all, Cricket held her family dear and played a significant role in bringing them together. She was the glue that bound them.

Cricket is survived by her loving husband of 65 years (9 months and 1 day), Monroe Hill; her children, Camilla (Richard) Townson, Sylvia (Chris) Robinson, and Brent Hill; her sister, Janice (Raymond) Croft; her grandchildren, Stacey (Shannon) Fortner, Tyson (Hilary) Robinson, Bret Hill, and Garyn Hill; and her great-grandchildren, Shiane Fortner, Steele Fortner, Shade Fortner, Walker Robinson, Memphis Robinson, and Nyla Hill.

In addition to her parents, Cricket was preceded in death by her brothers Jack, Joseph, and Buddy Knight, and her sisters Avalene Montieth, Beatrice Higdon, Maggie Rockholt, and Exie Robinson.

A funeral service to honor Cricket's life will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 1:00 PM ET in the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Shirley Byrum and Brother Floyd Williams officiating. She will be laid to rest at Bryant Holiness Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 2:00 - 8:00 PM ET and on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the service at 1:00 PM ET.

The family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Aveana Hospice for their compassionate care during Cricket's final days.
