Clyde Douglas “Bunk” Forester, 96, passed away at his home in New Salem, GA on November 10, 2022. He was born to the late John Lyde and Lillie Forester on November 1, 1926 and was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Vonnie; and brothers Jack Forester and Freeman Forester.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Moore Funeral Home in Trenton, GA. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 15 at the funeral home.
He is survived by daughters Kathy (Terry) Adkins, June (Joel) McCormick, Kim and Christy Forester. Also surviving are grandchildren Amonie (Neal) Shavers, Kerry (DJ) Starling, Cole (Samantha) Adkins, Carter (Paula) McCormick, Canaan McCormick, Maddie (Tyler) Hughes, and Christian Smith; great grandchildren Jett, Riley and Everly Shavers; Henry, Hollis and Haisley Starling; Calla Adkins and Anika McCormick; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many, many loving friends.
Bunk was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who served his country in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was retired from the Tennessee-American Water Company and was always deeply involved in agricultural pursuits. From helping his mother truck farm as a small child to growing crops and raising cattle as an adult, Bunk always nurtured his ties to the land.
