Barbara Cloud

December 5, 1942 — April 20, 2025

Barbara Ann Cloud, age 82 of Higdon, AL, passed away April 20, 2025. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

Barbara is now reunited with her beloved husband, Dee, whom she dearly missed for over ten years. She spent her most recent years in Huntsville, but if home is where the heart is, then her heart was in Higdon, at the home she shared with Dee. It's where her boys were raised, her grandchildren played, and many celebrations were held around the dining room table.

She took great pride in her yard and enjoyed gardening, cooking, and learning new things—traits likely passed down from her parents, John and Dorothy. Before his passing, Dee and Barbara could often be found taking the Corvette out for a drive, traveling together, or sitting hand in hand on the back porch, watching the sunset over the pond.

She appreciated good conversation and a good meal, never rushing to leave the table or end a discussion. She valued others' thoughts and was a problem solver, regularly looking for meaning and solutions to life's obstacles. Barbara was also quick-witted and navigated many trials with humor and grace.

She kept albums upon albums of family photos and enjoyed reminiscing on treasured memories. Her home was filled with cherished items, and she carefully coordinated her outfits—often with bright jewelry and scarves. Barbara was a strong, steady presence and a beloved matriarch—dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ray Devon (Dee) Cloud, parents John and Dorothy Sharpton, and niece Cynthia Hunter.

She is survived by sons Roger (Regina) Cloud, Don (Lindsey) Cloud of Huntsville, AL; sister Shirley West of Higdon, AL; brothers Jimmy (Barbara) Sharpton, Wayne (Greta) Sharpton of Higdon, AL; six grandchildren Derek (Keeshia) Cloud, Rebecca Cloud, Devin Cloud, Dillon Cloud, Dawson Cloud, Davis Cloud, Maverick Cloud, all of Huntsville, AL; five great-grandchildren Kiersten Cloud, McKenzie Cloud, Rylan Cloud, Mason Gannon, and Faith Gannon; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Derek Cloud, Jacob Hunter, Devin Cloud, Dillon Cloud, Dawson Cloud, and Davis Cloud.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM ET on Wednesday, April 23rd at the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Jim Hixon officiating. She will be laid to rest at Oak Lawn Memorial Park following the service.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 22nd from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM ET at the funeral home, and on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until the service hour.
