Andy B. Newby, Jr. (86) of Trenton passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at his residence. He was a loving husband, uncle, and friend. Andy was hard working, kind, compassionate man who never met a stranger and had a passion for camping and staying busy. He was a member of Hooker Church of Christ.
Andy was a 1953 graduate of Dade County High School and served in the Army from 1956-1962. He was a Senior Ranger with the Georgia Forestry Commission for 34 years, retiring in 1992. Following his retirement, he established his lawn mowing business in which he ran until 2018. He was involved in many organizations in Dade County throughout the years.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Brown and Carrie Newby, brother, John Earl, and sister, Nancy Barnhart.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Kathleen Newby, special “son,” Eric “Bo” Hill, of Trenton, nephews, Milton (Julie) Stephens of Lynnville, TN, Winfred (Nita) Keith of Mt. Juliet, TN, Mike (Darlene) Keith of Cleveland, TN, Mark Cross of Trenton, and niece, Connie Cross of Trenton, sisters-in-laws, Betty Keith and Bertha Cross and brother-in-law, Roy (Shirley) Stephens all of Trenton. Andy is also survived by his “adopted” family, Larry and Kay Hill of Trenton as well as several great nephews and nieces and a multitude of friends.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga for the care provided, particularly nurses Harley and Mary.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. and on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 from 12:00 - 2:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Minister Milton Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.
