ALTON MITCHELL
RISING FAWN, GA: Alton Brown Mitchell, age 79, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved fishing, and was gifted in wood carving & painting. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran and a Deacon at Lookout Mountain Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roscoe & Elsie Evans Mitchell; siblings Artie Ellis, Melton, Maynard, Alford, and Andrew Mitchell.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years Rita Jane Brown Mitchell; daughters and sons-in-law Janie & Doyle Holcomb, Carron June & David Smith, Catherine Jill Hise; sisters Alice Pace, Opal McCullough and Geneva Miller; brother Laverne Mitchell; 8 grandchildren Alisha, Michael, Katie, Harold IV, Jeffrey Alton, Jessica, Justin, and Megan; many nieces, and nephews; a host of friends.
Funeral service will be Wednesday at 4:00 PM EDT in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Pace Officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery.
